2016 – Brookfield’s Year in Review

2016 was a big year for Brookfield Residential. We celebrated 60 years of building the best places to call home in Ontario (with over 25,000 homes built to date!), opened several communities for sale, saw many new releases, and welcomed nearly 600 new homeowners as residents in our communities. We would like to thank you, the readers of our blog, for following our journey over the past year. As we look forward to 2017 and to celebrating the new year, we want to take this opportunity to look back at some of 2016’s highlights.

Awards & Recognition
This year, we were proud and humbled to be recognized as one of Canada’s Best Employers. Customer care is one of Brookfield’s cornerstones, and it manifests not just toward our customers and our homeowners, but as care for our employees as well. We strive to create and maintain a strong corporate culture, with our key values of passion, integrity and community. As the survey was determined based on employees’ votes, we were especially pleased to see these results. We are determined to continue to strive to be the type of company where employees can pursue their passions in alignment with our vision and mission of building quality homes and communities.

At the 2016 Durham Region Home Builders’ Association Awards of Excellence, we were excited to win the Work Place Safety Award, which demonstrates our commitment to our employees’ well-being and to withholding high standards of construction.

Community Releases, Construction & New Homeowners

It was a busy year with lots going on at all of our communities. We launched several exciting new communities, including Timberlane in Aurora, Whitby Central in Whitby and Pinehurst in Paris. All of the communities are selling well (in fact, Whitby Central is already sold out) and it was exciting for us to make our building debut in Paris, Ontario.

As for building in Aurora, we now have several communities besides Timberlane in the works in this beautiful area. The Arbors in Aurora’s detached homes continue to sell well, and Phase 3 is currently under construction. We’re also working on construction and making good progress at the Arbors Condominiums, our recent Community of the Month.

Two of our popular communities – Grand Central in Bradford and Fieldstone in Mono –sold out completely in 2016. Construction at Fieldstone has been ongoing throughout the year, and we look forward to welcoming new homeowners to both communities.

At charming Willow Glen in Tottenham, we had several new releases of 30’, 36’, 43’ and 50’ home designs. We also enjoyed several fun homeowner events. In Alliston, our Treetops community is blossoming, with construction in full swing and more families moving in regularly. This year, Treetops received its 500th home purchase and hosted many social community events, like an Easter party, a spring event at Treetops’ outdoor amphitheatre and a summer Meet Your Neighbour Party at the Treetops Park.

Community Involvement
Besides hosting events and being involved in our various residential communities across southern Ontario, we also enjoyed being a part of our online community here. Throughout the year, we shared all kinds of updates, photos, décor tips and more with you on Facebook and our blog, posted inspiration on Pinterest, and shared monthly news and updates in our Bnews newsletter (if you’re not already signed up for Bnews, just register for any of our communities and you’ll receive it). Thanks for following along!

We had some fun at industry events, like the day we participated in the BILD MNP Charity Volleyball Tournament to support Habitat for Humanity GTA. We also had a great time at Whitby Harbour Day, getting involved in the Whitby community.

As always, our Annual Charity Golf Classic this past summer was a lot of fun and a great success in raising funds for local charities – Nova’s Ark, the Women’s Multicultural Resource & Counselling Centre of Durham, and the Whitby Historical Society. We encourage you to read up on these great local charities.

Looking Forward to 2017
2017 is looking like it’ll be a year just as busy and exciting as 2016. We have plans to bring several master-planned new communities to the market, including Woodhaven in Aurora, New Seaton in Pickering, a new offering at our best-selling Pathways community in Caledon East and a boutique condo in downtown Bolton. Stay tuned!

Thanks again for following along on our journey. We can’t wait to share 2017 with you. Have a safe and happy holiday season, and we’ll see you in the New Year. As always, if you have any questions or comments, please reach out on Facebook or send us a message at inquiries@brookfieldhomes.ca.
