March Break Boredom Busters

March Break is upon us and we’ve compiled a list of some ideas to help you keep the little ones busy this coming week. Make sure you check out the list of local events for your community.

Get Crafty

Set aside an afternoon to let your creative sides run wild with some arts and crafts. Some great ideas include making cupcake crayons, DIY secret formula slime (sounds messy, but the kids will love it!) or try your hands at these printable animal finger puppets. Be sure to show us your creations by posting some pictures on our Facebook page. We would love to see what you come up with!

Have a Campout Indoors

Turn your living room into a campsite by rolling out some sleeping bags and pillows and snuggling around the fireplace. Make sure there are plenty of flashlights to go around. No fireplace? No problem. You can light some candles for ambience. Spend the night telling stories, playing campfire games and making indoor S’mores.

Learn the Art of Baking

Get your kids in the kitchen and create something delicious together. Try these kid-approved four ingredient goldfish drops, or these kid and adult-approved nutella cookie cups.  Looking for something a little healthier? Mix together these healthy ingredients to make peanut butter oatmeal balls.

Need a break from inside the house? Check out some events near your local community:

Niagara-on-the-Lake – The Village

Spread your wings and fly on over to the Jack Cluster Bird Sanctuary at 1064 Concession 7, RR4. The sanctuary is free of charge and open year round to the public. Challenge the kids to take photographs of the birds in their natural habitat, so you can learn more about them later at home. You can also check out the children’s programs at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library. They offer chess tournaments, story time and you can even say goodbye to them for the night while they enjoy a “stuffie” sleepover.

Oshawa – Hills of Harrowsmith
